2009 Sangiovese

2010 Sangiovese is composed of two clones grown in separate blocks.  The first is a “Brunello” clone noted for its lean, high toned cherry notes, bright acid, and firm tannic backbone.  The second clone is “New World” in its fruit forward styling with ripe raspberries and softer tannins.  The violet edged, dark ruby wine yields spicy notes of violet, black cherry and tea in the nose.  A juicy fore- and mid-palate is tempered by solid acidity which maintains balance.  The fruit shows some length and the wine finishes with structured yet manageable tannins.  Drink between now and 2017.
